Datamax St. Louis began in 1955 as a mimeograph and supply company known as the A.B. Dick Products Company of St. Louis. With the advent of electrostatic copiers in the 1960's, the company expanded into the copier market.
By 1975, a new division, Copying Concepts was formed to market a new line of copiers from Minolta.
Success brought expansion and Datamax of Arkansas was formed in 1983.
In 1989, Datamax of Texas was formed in the Greater Dallas Area to market the Canon line of copiers.
In 1995, Datamax of Arkansas opened its Hot Springs location after acquiring The Business Center, which had been in business since 1971. But more growth was yet to come.
In 2000, as the office equipment industry was becoming more digitally oriented, Datamax of Arkansas saw a need to be able to serve its customer’s requests for computer related products and services. The search focused on finding a company with the same desire to serve its customers with the values upon which Datamax of Arkansas built its reputation. The answer was just a few blocks away at Micro Computer Technologies.
In business since 1985, Micro Computer Technologies had a reputation for excellence in providing analysis, custom design, installation, maintenance and upgrades on computer networks. It was a perfect fit and Datamax of Arkansas officially became Datamax/Micro, Arkansas’ only full service technology solutions center.
In 2001, Datamax's continued success in other markets brought about more expansion. Datamax of Kansas City was formed with the purchase of Ladicom to serve the Kansas City and St. Joseph, MO metropolitan areas.
Datamax/Micro operates as an independent division of Sumner Group, Inc., the parent company and financial services division based in St. Louis.
